Steve's FIRST Steps NRA pistol course is invaluable. I learned proper gun safety, firearm mechanics, ammunition types, gun cleaning, pistol grip/stance, etc. It was an informative classroom experience that was followed by significant range time. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone thinking about purchasing a handgun or to novices like myself. You will definitely learn a lot from the course, and Steve is an excellent instructor.

Great Handgun Course Steve's FIRST Steps NRA pistol course is invaluable. VALUE and Confidence !!

When I attended a local 'quickie' Concealed Carry Course in July 2012 I knew something was missing. Safety was mentioned, but the majority of the time was the manual application process for the Florida Concealed Firearms License. I was not even allowed to load the firearm there, but was allowed to pull the trigger three, yes t-h-r-e-e times. I found Col. Stimpson's course on the NRA website and interviewed him on the phone. What a breath of fresh air. His class allowed me to practice loading, cocking, de-cocking and unloading ten different firearms with dummy ammunition in the classroom. The theme of safety was paramount and constantly iterated. We went to the gun range and he offered me a variety of seven different calibers of ammunition to fire in those same ten firearms. I was allowed to load and fire f-i-f-t-y shots. This gave me the confidence to purchase my own firearm. He then offered at no additional cost, to see that I was properly oriented with it at a local gun range. As the saying goes you get what you pay for, but you get the most from Col. Stimpson's course in value and confidence.
