Formed in 2001, AWAB LLC grew out of Parker Merrick Company, a fastener distributor in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During the mid 1980s Parker Merrick began the importation and distribution of Swedish all-316-stainless hose clamps after one of the principles was introduced to them at the Hallberg-Rassy plant in Ellös, Sweden. In 1990 the Swedish manufacturers AWAB and ABA merged, and Western Hemisphere production of the AWAB 316SS clamp was moved to Illinois.
